About Me

Hi. Welcome to Home Cooking Diary.  My name is Peter and I created this blog in 2008 when I was in law school. I went to school in a small town where we had no Korean restaurants or grocery stores.  My cravings were too strong for Korean food so I said to myself, "Screw it. I'm just gonna learn how to cook."

Prior to starting this blog, I was completely useless in the kitchen.  My main dinner entrees I put together would include nothing but processed foods.  I had no idea what else to do.  Later I learned that where there is a will, there is a way.  After following some recipes online, I started understanding how to put ingredients together.  It sort of came to me as if I learned a new language.

This blog may not have the best recipes and directions but it has some good foundational guidelines to Korean cooking.  I had written most of them in a hurry or while intoxicated on Friday nights so I apologize for any poor grammars on some of the posts.  It was usually the only time I had to write the blog during law school.

I eventually graduated from law school and became licensed to practice law in California and Oregon.  I worked at a big law firm in Los Angeles for a few years and eventually got into the real estate business in Portland, Oregon.  My real estate site is pdxblog.comI still cook at home a lot and this time a whole variety of cuisines.  Starting this blog really opened the door to the world of home cooking.  I also try to travel and eat a lot and gain inspiration from other culture and people.  My life continues to evolve and I am grateful for having written this blog a long time ago even though it was out of my own necessity.  I hope you enjoy some of these recipes.
